Bee Yourself

I would love to show you the card I created for the August DT for Scrap the Boys New card challenge.
The challenge is Go Geo!

Geometric shapes on a card.
 So here we go...
I created this card, I chose the hexagon to be my geometric shape.

Here are a few close ups of my card...

I have used 3 hexagons, one gold, one ivory and the other a gold/mustard hexagon pattern paper.

I have hand drawn a bee (several times) and I have used watercolours to add the signature yellow and black.  I have used a black fine liner to draw the wings, antennae and buzzing trail.  I also neatened up the edges of my watercolour.

I have stamped the sentiment of the card and used a fine liner to add a stitched edge to match the lines of the bee.

This card is for my nephews, Isaac and Nathaniel, so I created a message that I think is suitable for all children aged 7 to 10.

I hope you like what I have created.

a seed from which tomorrow's happiness grows

I wanted to share with you a special layout of gorgeous niece, Esther.
I will be meeting this little one for the first time in August, even though we've talked over the internet it'll be much better to talk to her in real life.
When I saw this floral PP from the Sherlock III: a New Case collection, I knew I wanted to use it on something special.
Have a look and tell me what you think...

I backed my photo with a frame of green cardstock and then used a script above to tie in the PP with the photo.  I used cream mesh ribbon from Meg's Garden bundle of goodies across the background.

Using the Branch with Flowers die in a sage green cardstock I have framed the photo over the cream mesh ribbon.

I have used the sage green rhinestones from the emerald sheet in the centre of some of the flowers from the die and in the corners for a touch of sparkle.

Hope you've enjoyed sharing in my creation with Meg's beautiful products, be sure to pop along to the website to look at her stunning collections.

Hey Dude

I would love to show you the card I created for the July DT for Scrap the Boys New card challenge.

The sketch below is the challenge for July
So with this sketch I created this card, I chose to stick to stars because the main challenge over at Scrap the Boys is about using stars.

Here are a few close ups of my card...

I have scraplifted from Kirei Baldwin, I have seen a layout of hers using half stars with different PP behind them.  I asked her permission back when I saw the layout to scraplift it.  I cut half a star with my craft knife, I scored a line to be able to fold back the star.
I chose a flair with 'Dude' on as part of my sentiment and I stamped 'Hey' to complete it. I am sending this to two very cool dudes, my nephews, Isaac and Nathaniel.

I used light blue enamel dots to highlight the stars and white background.

I hope you like what I have created.

Sherlock III: a New Case - Spread the Word

Sherlock III: a New Case -
Spread the Word
Hello everyone, popping in to the blog today to show you some cards I created with this beautiful collection!
All the cards are using the A4 pages, cutting out the most beautiful elements on the pages to make the centrepiece of each card.
This card uses the ink pot as the inspiration, I have added the pen nib and the sentiment "Spread the word" to create a writers theme.  The organza ribbon tied in beautifully with the vintage photo ink around the background paper.
This card has such a beautiful background paper that I left it so simple with a mink/taupe organza ribbon and the muted rhinestones from the diamond sheet, available at the website.
This card has such a detailed background paper that all I needed to do was ink the edges with vintage photo ink and add a sentiment.  I used "Time is a storyteller" because the paper looks like a collection of someone's belongings.  I added jute twine to the tag I created.
This card uses the top of one of the A4 collection papers and the postcard is a green text so I used a green backing card, embellishing the card with the green velour flower trim and an organza ribbon bow.  I have added sage green rhinestones from the emerald sheet.
All of these items can be purchased at Meg's Garden store.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing my card creations today.
Take care

Muddy Lace Dress

I wanted to share with you a special layout of my wedding.
This is one of my favourite photos from my wedding day and I have used Meg's products to make this photo sing, as you'll see.

When I saw this lace PP from Meg's Garden, I knew I wanted to use it on something special.

Have a look and tell me what you think...

I have combined the lace PP with a plain kraft cardstock.  Stamped a script along the side and white embossed the stamping to stand out. I backed my photo with a frame of black cardstock and then used a script PP to tie in the lace PP with the plain background.  The script PP is from Midsummers Night Dream, a tale of love stories.  I used tulle from Meg's goodies and I added a touch of my own lace along the photo to tie together the PP and my dress in the photo.

And the cluster of embellishments are all from Meg's Garden bundle of goodies.  I started with the sheer organza white ribbon, then I place the cluster of paper flowers, I have used white and ivory as the layout has a mix of both in the PPs.

I have used a satin seamed organza ribbon near the cluster to soften the flowers edge.

Using the Branch with Flowers die in an ivory pearlescent cardstock I have framed the photo over the organza ribbon.

I have used the single flower that you get with the die to place a few blossoms around the page.  I have used the diamond rhinestones around the organza ribbon for a touch of sparkle.

With the suggestion from my friend Mary Bennetts I have written along the bottom

"When your heart is so happy, it doesn't matter if your lace dress is muddy..."

It's perfect because I love this picture, as I have no worries in the world at this moment in time.  I love my muddy wedding dress, it was a beautiful day walking through the vineyards with the man I love.

Hope you've enjoyed sharing in my creation with Meg's beautiful products, be sure to pop along to the website to look at her stunning collections.

You colour my world

hello everyone...

Popping in to the blog today to show you my latest creation for Scrap the Boys Card making challenge.

The challenge for the month of June is to use stitching on your card.

Here is my card...

I used my skills in embroidery to stitch on my card this month.  I did another version with my sewing machine but the look was cleaner with the hand stitching. Here is a close up...

I used coloured inks to emphasise the coloured embroidery threads.

I was lucky to come across a globe die cut from some happy mail I had received because it was perfect for me to use the sentiment, "you colour my world".

Hope you get the chance to create along with us this month, we would love to see you over at Scrap the Boys Challenge blog

I absolutely loved this challenge, inspiring me to get out my needle and thread.

Take care

Sherlock III: a New Case
Bec here, showcasing the new collection from Meg's Garden.
With this amazing collection of vintage papers, I have created a layout for this awesome composition photo of my nephews. I have used 3 of the A4 papers to create this background and have layered them to show how effective they are together.
Here is a close up of the crackled background paper that I placed just behind the photo to co-ordinate with the brickwork and walls in the photo.
I used 3 of the metal embellishments down the side of the photo to draw the eye back to the main piece on the page.
I have layered the clock face charm on the round filigree trinket.
I have used a saying from the Ephemera from the Poetry ephemera sheets. I felt it linked well with the photo.
I stamped a diamond pattern along the edge of the background paper and the opposite side on the compass background paper
Here is the stamping on one of the new collection A4 pages.
I have placed black rhinestones on the corners of the layers to define the corners.
All of these products can be found on Meg's Garden website, follow the link below or click on the links I have provided to the individual products.
